Posted: 14 AprilOne word. JUMP PUZZLES?!?! You don't have to fall far to die, and you'll figure this out pretty early on. At first it's not bad. Maybe a series of 10 or 15 jumps, sure its easy to die but you restart pretty quickly and its ok. Not the best aspect of the game at all.
Then after a while of playing the game wants you to take 20 or 30 jumps, some of them intentionally made to be really difficult, and one wrong step its ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE BEGINNING OF THE PUZZLE! No halfway save. Just make difficult jump after difficult jump until you fail and have to replay the level for the 10th time.Should be 8/10 (maybe 9/10.
I don't really care at this point) however I'd say at least a -4 for jump puzzles. What a stupid thing to add, The constant backtracking built into every level is a little frustrating but when you spend so many attempts trying to get past a rather large section of jumping puzzles and the controls are.
Not that great, it kind of sucks actually.Ultimately 4/10 Not worth buying unless you just super complacent and don't mind failing at the same thing 100 times. Story seems crazy interesting, graphics are really good but there are so many better games out there. I'm also thinking that there's probably a video online if you want to watch the story. Araya wiki. Which is probably what I'm going to do at this point. There's no reason to torture yourself.
Posted: 11 AprilDon't let the negative reviews sway you like they did me. They aren't wrong. Sometimes the checkpoints suck but they don't suck THAT much. The platforming is wonky but not THAT bad. There were some hard parts but they're not THAT hard.
It is a very well balanced game with a surprising mix of genres. The puzzles are incredibly well designed. The bouncing between action and thinking was so fun. Music rocked. Visuals caused a screenshot frenzy.
As long as you aren't a person who likes to whine at the first sign of hardship, you will be in for a very very fun game.
